There is a new tutorial available on carto.net titled Manipulating SVG Documents Using ECMAScript (Javascript) and the DOM. The tutorial targets beginners in SVG and JavaScript programming. All topics are illustrated by examples and are commented.
The tutorial covers the following:
- getting node references (
evt.target, parentNode, nextSibling, firstChild, etc.) - getting, setting and removing attributes
- creating elements
- removing and reordering elements
- cloning elements
The tutorial is provided by carto.net (Juliana Williams and Andreas Neumann). Examples were tested in Adobe SVG Viewer versions 3 and 6 as well as Batik. Feedback, comments and suggestions for improvements are always welcome.
