SVG Inside Safari

Work has started in making SVG part of Safari, Apple's browser based on the excellent khtml engine. While it may seem like a late start that's unlikely to produce anything of use in the close future, it may be that it could carry its fruits sooner than expected by reusing KSVG2, the KDE Project's SVG implementation, as explained on the WebKit development site:
We would like to develop a fully integrated solution so that SVG can be interleaved with other XML markup (like HTML). Our current idea about how to implement SVG is to reconcile the current WebCore DOM with the KDOM work being done by the folks working on KSVG2. Then KSVG2 can integrate right into WebCore as a first-class citizen and be used in the future in appropriate contexts like Dashboard.
Good going Apple!
