sXBL (SVG's XML Binding Language) is a proposed specification that will allow arbitrary XML to be represented and rendered graphically in SVG. Cameron McCormack, of Monash University in Australia, has implemented a preliminary version in the SVG toolkit Batik.
You can download the binaries or the source. Cameron invites testing and asks that bug reports be sent to batik-dev mailing list.
sXBL will allow both appearance and scripted behaviors to be automagically attributed to any XML elements that have an sXBL template designed for them, and represents a powerful new step towards the Semantic Web. It will be useful for data visualization, GUIs, and much more.
The Batik wiki details the SVG 1.2 features currently supported by the code in the Subversion repository.
