Through the recent SJP-3 update, Sony Ericsson added support for SVG to their Symbian Java Platform, using the JCP standard JSR 226. The phones supporting SJP-3 are the W950, which ships directly with this SJP release, and the M600 and P990, which will have a firmware update made available to add SJP-3 support. With this release Sony Ericsson becomes the third manufacturer to ship JSR 226-enabled phones on the market, following Motorola and Nokia, and there are now 21 such phones available on the market. Given Sony Ericsson's long-standing commitment to SVG, it wouldn't be surprising to see more JSR 226 support announced in 2007 for a wider array of devices, such as feature phones, which composes the majority of their offerings.
