Opera 9 With SVG Basic 1.1 Support Goes Gold

After being in public development for eight months, the Opera 9 browser has just been made available to the broad public. This new release ushers in a slew of new features, such as widgets, BitTorrent support, ACID2 compliance and generally-enhanced support for Web standards. Of particular interest to the SVG community, the SVG support has seen a tremendous upgrade from SVG Tiny 1.1 to SVG Basic 1.1, while the precise level of SVG support is well documented on Opera's website. With this release, Opera places itself at the forefront of browsers natively supporting SVG and strengthens a trend toward native SVG implementations that may be followed by Microsoft's Internet Explorer.
