Developers interested in building mobile Java applications leveraging SVG with the JSR 226 APIs have been treated by Sun Microsystems who just released the first beta of the new version 2.5 of the Wireless Toolkit. The JSR 226 specification is the JCP-approved set of APIs designed to load, manipulate and animate SVG graphics in J2ME applications. JSR 226 is one of the new JSRs supported in this release, with Sun's own SVG implementation powering the APIs. Last week already, Sun's JSR 226 implementation was integrated into the Sprint Wireless Toolkit 3.0. These two new tools add to the Nokia Prototype SDK that was made available late last year.
